Pastor Jackson would like to meet with the 7th – 12th graders and their parents regarding their interest in participating in a summer service trip to New York City in the summer of 2015. We will meet at Saint John’s, Rankin after the service on Saturday, December 13, to discuss this possibility. We’ll start out with a pizza dinner and then have our discussion.

Saint Peters will be observing special worship services in Advent to aid you in your spiritual preparations for the Feast of the Nativity (Christmas). Saint Peters will conduct services on December 3, 10, and 17 at 7:00 PM, preceded by a parish meal. The service will begin with a ten minute hymn sing and then proceed with “Holden Evening Prayer,” a beautiful setting of the ancient prayer service of Vespers. If you prefer to worship in the noon hour, our sister congregation Saint John’s in Algoma will conduct a service at that time on the same days. The sermon will be the same, but it will use an abbreviated liturgy that will last no more than forty minutes. This service will also be preceded by a meal.

On Monday, October 27, the St. Peter’s Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) helped Cub Scouts from Pack 4112 fulfill an advancement requirement by baking cookies.  The women, the boys, and the boys’ sisters all enjoyed their time together.  Everyone involved went home with some cookies, and extra cookies were given to some of the congregation’s homebound members.

“They don’t sell 75th wedding anniversary cards.” This was a consistent refrain on Sunday morning, August 3, when Ray and Ruth Krueger celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.  Indeed, 75 years together only comes as a combination of clean living, marital fidelity, and God’s blessing.

Ray and Ruth celebrated by coming to church, accompanied by many family members and friends, and a dinner was held in their honor in our fellowship hall. May the Lord bless them with many more years together, and may He encourage our young people in marital fidelity by their example.

Today’s theme was “Jesus Saves Me.”  We learned about Jesus rescuing Peter from drowning in the sea and memorized Matthew 14:27: “Jesus said, ‘Take heart. It is I. Do not be afraid.'”

Did your child have a great time at Vacation Bible School?  We sent home registration letters to enroll your child in our Sunday School, which begins in September.  The learning and fun will continue throughout the Fall, Winter, and Spring!  We would love for you to enroll your child.

Check out these pictures from our great day!
