St. Peter’s has been nurturing a thriving youth ministry in cooperation with our sister congregation, St. John’s in Algoma (Rankin.) Just this summer, the two churches sent 19 kids to the National Youth Gathering of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod!

We’re going to keep this momentum going with an organizational meeting on at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 14 at our sister congregation, St. John’s in Algoma (Rankin).

This organizational meeting is open to 8th-12th graders.

We will have a little fun, do a little Bible Study, and then make some plans for the upcoming year. One of the most important discussions we will have is regarding where our 2023 summer mission trip will be.

Come and participate so that you can have your voice heard!

Catechism Class is kicking off with a parent/student/teacher meeting on Wednesday, September 7 at 7:00 PM at our sister congregation, St. John’s at Rankin. Classes will then begin at St. John’s Rankin on Wednesday, September 14 at 6:00 PM. Catechism class is the normal route for young people to prepare for the Rite of Confirmation. Students usually take Catechism Class in their 7th and 8th grade years, although some start a little earlier, and some start a little later.

Over the past few years, families that are not members of St. Peter’s or St. John’s have been sending their children to Catechism Class. If you aren’t currently involved in a church and would like for your young people to have this opportunity, please feel free to attend the information meeting or contact Pastor Chris to talk about this.
