On Wednesday evenings in Advent we will be observing Evening Prayer and learning about three women, Eve, Hannah, and Mary, as they had “Hope in God’s Promises.”

If you prefer to worship during the daytime, our sister congregation, St. John’s in Algoma, will have the same sermon, but with an abbreviated liturgy lasting no more than 40 minutes. You will be able to come, worship, and be back to work all within your lunch hour.

Marilyn J. Uecker, 80, formerly of Forestville, passed away November 30, 2015 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit after a massive stroke eight years ago. She was born March 13, 1935 in the Township of Forestville to Melvin and Evelyn (Schley) Schmiling.

Marilyn graduated from the Algoma High School and she took over the family farm in the Town of Forestville. She married Kenneth Uecker on June 21, 1959 in Forestville and farmed together until Kenneth passed away on Feb. 12, 2001. Marilyn continued to farm until she had her massive stroke in 2008. Marilyn was very active in the farming industry including being secretary of the National Board for Morning Glory, Town of Forestvillle Supervisor for many years, a member of the Door County Farm Bureau, the Door County Library of Forestville and a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and the LWML.

Marilyn is survived by her two children, Margean (Scott) Rodrian, Algoma; and Loren (Tammy) Uecker, Town of Forestville, five grandchildren, Kirk Rodrian, Coty and Griffin Knigge and Joslyn and Lauren Uecker, two sisters, Lyla (Lloyd) Uecker, Algoma; and Karen (Ken) Draves, Algoma; brother-in-law Craig Neubauer, Forestville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth and one sister Sandy Neubauer.

Family and friends may gather at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 4 – 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 and after 9:30 am, Friday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Forestville until the time of services at 11 am with Rev. Dr. Chris Jackson officiating. Prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in the church cemetery.

Margean and Loren would like to give a special thank you to the staff of the Algoma Long Term Care Unit for taking such great care of Mom. And special thank you to Aunt Lyla and Karen, who lovingly spent so much time with Mom in these last 8 years. Your kindness means so much and will never be forgotten!
