St. Peter’s Confirmation 2020

The Rite of Confirmation this year poses challenges even as it will be a source of joy. It is a comparatively large class with large families, which makes the logistics of conducting it safely during the pandemic difficult. This page will help you understand and prepare for the day. This page will be updating regularly as plans continue to emerge, so make sure to check back often.

COVID Safety

We take the pandemic very seriously at St. Peter’s, and so we are taking the following measures to do our part to help keep people safe and our community healthy.

  • Open air service – We will be conducting the service in the open air, under and open-sided tent. We have been advised that open air events are much safer than those conducted inside.
  • Building closed – Our building will be closed except for during pictures, when we will allow families to enter individually to take pictures in the chancel.
  • Social distancing – We will be arranging seating to keep households/parties at a safe distance one from another.
  • Masks required – We are requiring everyone to wear a mask during the service.
  • Alternative ways to participate – We will be broadcasting the service via a low powered radio transmitter so that people can sit in their cars and listen. Also, we will livestream the event at our YouTube channel.

Pictures

The class photo will be taken outdoors. Individual confirmands will then be scheduled to enter the church building with members of their family to have individual pictures taken in the chancel.

Seating

We are planning on seating the families of confirmands in their own sections of the tent. In order to plan ahead how  to arrange the seating, please email Pastor Chris (revcjackson@gmail.com) with how many people you intend to bring with your party. If you have separate parties who would like to attend, but these should be kept separate from one another due to social distancing, please indicate that as well. We’ll be happy to accomodate you.

The general public is also permitted to attend our Confirmation service, but we will not be taking reservations for their attendance. They will be seated in a general seating section, and there will be adequate space for them to remain socially distanced from others.
