Rev. Gustav Berger’s Letter to His Father and Sisters, January 16, 1913. (Click here for link or click here for local copy.) A delightful glimpse into the life of Forestville at the time. Rev. Berger served from 1903 to 1925 and was the pastor at Forestville when the congregation built the current parsonage in 1903. The size of the parsonage probably owes in part to Rev. and Mrs. Berger having ten children.

Christmas 1915 Memories by Paula Marie Berger Hilgendorf. (Click here for link or click here for local copy.) Paula Marie Berger Hilgendorf was the daughter of Rev. Gustav Berger, who served from 1903 to 1925. Paula was very fond of Forestville. She considered it a privilege to have grown up in a small Door County village and believed that Forestville was “paradise on earth.”
